SO week 1 is over but it hasn’t been without its hiccups. Unfortunately I have small tear in a muscle in my back so I have been unable to train for a few days.
My physio says maybe Thursday of this week. There not much I can do about it other than rest but it’s not going to stop me getting some results from the nutrition point of view. After all as fitness professional I know that nearly 70% of our fat loss results will come from the nutrition side of things.
The weekend is always a challenge for people who are trying to eat healthier. Luckily my girlfriend was away this weekend so there was no pressure to go out and no temptations to out for a few beers with the lads either since there was no football on. This meant that I found it relatively easy to avoid alcohol this weekend.
We did however go out for a meal with some friends last night which I thought would be a challenge but I was able to choose foods off the menu that worked with the nutrition side of things.
Restaurants will always be happy to tweak their menu for you but most will have the choice of chicken or steak and you can swap the chips / potato or rice for a large green leafy salad.
For me the 2 hardest things is giving up bread and coffee with the coffee definitely being the hardest. This time round I haven’t missed the bread at all. Now I’m not on a low carb diet per se but I am trying to avoid carbs from grains and processed carbs, so any carbs that I am getting I am taking them from fruits and green leafy vegetables, especially spinach which I am eating loads of.
My caffeine lows and tiredness seem to have also subsided as do my cravings for carbs and all things sweet which I was getting last week.
I weighed myself this morning and I am now at 205lbs, which is a drop of just over 4lbs in 7 days.
This is pretty much what I would have expected for week one and while I am pleased with this I would have thought it would be a little more if I had been able to exercise properly.
I have a wedding to go to next Saturday which I expect will test my resolve both in terms of food and having a drink.
More updates to follow in a few days.
