Liam’s Personal 28 Day Fat Loss Challenge (Day 1)

I’ve just spent the weekend in Brighton at a wedding catching up with some of my oldest and best friends from back home in Ireland.

Of course this involves the usual drinking a bit more than you should (especially when there are a bunch of Irish people let loose on a free bar) and eating whatever is on offer as well. Then there is the food at the service stations (which has always been a particular weakness of mine) on the 6 hour drive down there and the energy drinks on the long drive back to Manchester last night. All in all a recipe for putting on a few extra pounds in a couple of days.

While it was great to see everyone and catch up because we don’t get to see each other very often, you always seen to notice that everyone has gotten a little older, greyer and waistlines have expanded a bit. I’ve even realised that this is especially true for myself. Working as a fitness professional helping people shed hundreds of pounds of body-fat every year, I really should be setting a better example, but I haven’t been recently. This may be because I work long hours but is that really a excuse?

I have been meaning to start my new MEAN Fat loss system myself for the last few weeks but I have been putting it off. I had a birthday night out 3 weeks ago for one of my friends so I put it off, I had a football tour to the Isle of Man over Easter weekend, so I couldn’t possibly start it then and a catch up with everyone at the wedding this weekend so there was no way I could have started it last week.

I have realised that I am making the same excuses to myself that I hear from my clients every day. I wouldn’t put up with it from a client so there is no way I should be putting up with it from myself. In fact I wouldn’t even take me on as a client if I was acting like this.

There will always be a night out or a wedding or a catch up or an anniversary or someone’s birthday and there will never be a perfect time to start to get into better shape so the best thing to do is to start today.

Starting today is better than never starting. So from today I will be spending the next 28 days getting into better shape and following my new MEAN fitness & fat loss system to the letter.

The last few weeks of beer, pizza, travelling food, hotel food, nights out and unhealthy snacking have taken their toll and I cannot let it continue. I have decided to blog about the process over the next 4 weeks to be held accountable and also to give people a bit of guidance on what to expect if you decide to try and lose a bit of weight yourself.

My current weight today is 209.2lbs and I would be expecting to get this to 195lbs in the next 4 weeks. That may sound like a big ask but that the type of results I get with my Manchester boot camp and 1-1 clients so I should expect to get the same for myself.

I will be posting regular updates as well as progress pictures and what sort of foods i’m eating as well as workout samples and challenges i’m facing along the way. And to prove I’m serious about these here is my before picture from this morning complete with just out of bed hair.
